Kieran is an Irish-transplant (dual citizen), and a Senior Associate at For Purpose Law Group. Kieran chairs the firm’s Intellectual Property practice area, and he co-chairs the firm’s Business & Corporate and Social Enterprise practice areas. Kieran currently works with a broad spectrum of non-profits, startups, creatives, and social entrepreneurs. He holds a second class honors BComm degree in Business from University College Dublin, and a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law. He is also certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (CIPP/US) to provide specialized advice on privacy and data protection issues, and serves as vice-chair of the State Bar’s Intellectual Property Litigation Interest Group.
Kieran’s practice involves taking a holistic approach to client’s matters in order to design customized legal solutions that take into account each client’s unique challenges and needs. He has worked closely with both for-profit and non-profit clients to form their entities, protect their valuable IP, and guide them as outside general counsel.
Prior to joining FPLG, Kieran worked at Wilkinson Mazzeo, where he developed a passion for working with young creatives and inspired entrepreneurs. During law school Kieran interned in Sony Electronics’ in-house legal department, advising various departments on a range of contractual, international, and intellectual property issues.
Kieran’s passions and interests include outdoor activities, photography, nerding out over cryptocurrencies, and dabbling in graphic design. Recently Kieran joined the board of a new design-focused nonprofit, Design Forward Alliance, which aims to integrate human-centered design into the fabric of San Diego society and culture.
